This August Scottish Opera’s Connect Company is taking part in a week-long residency in Aberdeen, teaming up with Opera North’s Youth Company. Both companies will work on a double-bill of Kurt Weill operas – Down in the Valley and Der Jasager – with two performances at Aberdeen International Youth Festival.

They’re looking for talented 14 to 21 year old instrumentalists to audition to be part of the orchestra for this week. Entry is by application and submission of an online audition video. All applicants should be Grade 7 and above.

The cost to take part is £250 and this includes accommodation at Aberdeen student halls, meals, and transport from the halls to the rehearsal and performance venues. There will also be the offer of tickets to selected shows running as part of the festival. If accommodation in Aberdeen is not required, the cost will be reduced to £183. This will still cover meals and the offer of tickets for other performances running as part of the festival. You will have to make your own way to the rehearsal and performance venues.
