Scottish Trades Union Council Song Festival was held in Glasgow on Friday 29th November. The theme of the festival was “songs for social justice” and was a one-day event where a panel of music professionals discussed songs submitted youth groups from around Scotland. One Big Drum (a performance group that developed out of IN2MUSIC) opened the Song Festival with a live performance and were the only group to play live on the day. They received a wonderful response from the audience and very positive feedback from the panel of music professionals, which included Jerry Dammers (who formed The Specials and wrote Free Nelson Mandela and Ghost Town) and Scottish folk veteran Rab Noakes.
Following their performance at the festival, One Big Drum have been invited to play at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh as part of an STUC event which will be held there in February.
